When it comes to a websites maintenance or online marketing the job is never really complete and there is ALWAYS room for improvement. A huge misconception that is commonly shared by business owners is that they only need to hire a web developer once and their website presence is complete and the Google gods will decided how to rank your website or your web developer knows the secret code that can be added to make you get ranked above your competitors. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
If your site is running on a content management system such as WordPress then it will require updates periodically. These updates typically include security updates, new functionality, bug fixes and more. Not keeping up with WordPress updates can keep your site from getting the benefits from new releases but also put your site at risk. Therefore it’s recommended that you you have some sort of website maintenance package that keeps a constant eye on your website instead of waiting for the proverbial “shit to hit the fan”.

It’s no surprise that content has always been an important factor when it comes to SEO as they old saying goes “content is king” which has existed for over a decade. Google favors websites which offer fresh, relevant content therefore adding new content to your site frequently will definitely make an impact. Much like I’m doing by writing this blog. By adding fresh content can rank for new keywords that can essentially bring more visitors. Last week I got a phone call from a potential customer merely days after writing a new post.
Of course achieving online success does not come over night. I’m still battling against competitors who have driven a deep flag into the ground offering a library of content and a back link portfolio that makes me want to give up and curl into the fetal position. But everyday I set aside time to make changes to improve the user experience on my websites, create new content, participate in social media or simply read articles to find new ways to gain the competitive edge. So far so great.
